podcast poem

(Gone Fishing) By: Paul Berube
Rays from the morning sun
cast their gentle warmth
showing all the beauty and
splendor of a new day.
The cerulean sky reflects
a mirror image of tranquility.
Peace and quiet are lovers.
Even the fish have gone fishing...
An eagle soars high over the lake
with majestic grace and purpose.
A small garden snake slithers
into a hollowed out log.
My white and red bobbin floats
on the surface ready to warn
of any subsurface activity.
Time and results, not important.
Getting lost in moments as these
makes life worthwhile. We live
for today. Yesterday is a memory
and tomorrow a dream.

Cliche Poem " The Raging River with Trout"
In a late afternoon stream
There is a fish out of water
There he lies… abundant
In flourishing slime from his scales
I release him solemnly
Away he swims faster than a speeding bullet
Here lies a fly
Red, green, with a slight tint of purple
Glimmers down the river
As shiny as a new dime
Oh a bite
I set the hook as quickly as
A hungry man on a Christmas ham
A nice trout
Local of an Alaskan stream
A hint of lemon
I am worthy of his salt
What a wonderful day this is
That trout was truly easy money
Although
You give a man to fish
He will eat for day
Teach a man to fish
He will eat forever
Now the day is old
And I must leave
To give it a rest

Figuritive Language Games

The best figurative language game I played tonight is “Paint by Idioms”, because it was a lot of fun and it tested my knowledge of idioms. In order to play this game, I had to answer questions about what the idioms meant and the “joke” aspect of it. My final score on this game was 7-1. If you want to play this game, go to this link http://www.funbrain.com/idioms/index.html
Another enjoyable figurative language game is “Battleship”, because it was very challenging yet it taught a good lesson. In order to play this game, I had to attempt to shoot my opponents ships and if I hit him, I would have to answer a metaphor question. My final score on this game was 0-2. My least favorite figurative language game is “Drag and drop metaphors”, because it was very easy and did not challenge my knowledge of idioms at all. In order to play this game, I had to connect the end of the metaphor to the beginning of the sentence. My final score on this game was 100%.
