irony and ambiguity

At first, I thought irony was something that was weird, but I learned that this was wrong. Actually, irony is what is expected from the story may turn out to be different. There are three types of irony: Situational irony, Dramatic irony, and verbal irony. I also learned about ambiguity. I used to think ambiguity was sarcasm, but I learned that ambiguity is a piece of writing that has multiple meanings or that can be interpreted in many different ways. On my irony and ambiguity pretest, I was far below grade-level. On my posttest, I hope that I will be above grade-level.

At first, I thought theme was just a topic of a story, but I learned that this was wrong. Actually, theme is the universal type of story as in what it is about. Some themes are universal, which means that they are based on all ages and cultures. Themes are can be found in all genres of literature; the five main genres of literature are… non-fiction, fiction, myths, drama, and poetry. Since I now understand theme, I can find the theme of my favorite movie. My favorite movie is Friday Night Lights. The theme of this movie is football. On my theme pretest, I was at grade-level. On my posttest, I hope that I will be above grade-level.

Second Quarter Goals 2008

This quarter, I will try to complete all my assignments and pay more attention in class. In order to achieve this, I will need to be more respectful and willing to cooperate.

This quarter, I will stop fooling around and stop trying to seek attention. In order to achieve this, I will try to stay on task and focus.

This quarter, I will maintain a 3.0 in all of my classes and improve my hand writing in all of my classes. In order to achieve this, I will study harder and maintain all B’s and above.
